Just your small reminder that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has been open since October 1st, so make sure to fill yours out if you're going to college/university for the 2021-2022 school year!

It's not a joke that college is expensive. In the 2017-2018 school year, the average cost of tuition for all types of 4 year institutions (private, public, etc) was $27,357 according to the National Center for Education Statistics. The cost of tuition goes up every year but so does the cost of living. If you go out of state to college, some may not realize that tuition isn't the only thing you have to worry about. You have to worry about transportation, supplies, personal expenses, and the list can go on. FAFSA can sometimes cover all, most, half or almost nothing of your living expensive and tuition. High school always discuss a massive amount of scholarships available to students for different reasons.

Some of these scholarships can be for good things such as being a 4.0 student and other can be based on sad events such as the death of a parent(s). There is such a vast amount of scholarships that can seem overwhelming but what doesn't help is that there isn't one core place for these scholarships.

Luckily, as womxn in STEM, you can simply Google "Womxn in STEM scholarships" and you'll get millions of hits. That's probably how you stumbled upon this blog. I have compiled a list of scholarships that I have found for Womxn in STEM and some general information for them. Not only that, but I included direct links to the websites so that you can find out more about them. These are not all the scholarships available to womxn so continue searching for more that apply to you!

As a junior in college, I understand how scary it can be trying to find ways to pay for college. It's scary enough to wait for a decision for an institution but the fear of how you're going to pay for the school you want to attend is worse. Hopefully this removes some of that fear.
